Established in 1959 by Peter Carelas, the Greenville Drive-In has been a social fixture and destination in the Northern Catskills for over six decades. The drive-in was revived and re-imagined after a brief period of transition by Dwight Grimm and Leigh Van Swall in 2015.
The couple upgraded the both the projection system & audio transmission to modern digital platforms. A licensed biergarten with performing stage was added to the side of the concession stand. Local beer, wine & speciality cocktails were added to a concession menu which now features many locally-made snacks and sodas. The movie programming shifted away from the dependance on mainstream first-run features to an eclectic line-up of retro, independent and filmmaker-direct offerings. Local musicians were brought in to perform on weekends ahead of the movies. A vintage Airstream RV has been brought in to provide a truly unique accommodation experience.
The typical drive-in season begins with an Annual Season Opening Party in early May and runs until Columbus Day weekend. Screenings are Friday & Saturday throughout, with Thursdays and Sundays usually added in the height of summer.
